How much of my donation goes toward directly supporting trauma victims?
Every donation, regardless of its form, serves as crucial support for TriCord Ranch Foundation's mission to aid Oklahomans in need. What fundraising efforts are being made to raise funds for the purchase of the foundation headquarters?
TriCord Ranch Foundation launched a crowdfunding campaign on 11/29/23 specifically to start raising money to be set aside for the purchase of the foundation headquarters and first TriCord Ranch location. We are also working with volunteers to submit grant proposals and applications through Grants.gov and SBA.gov. In addition, we are creating corporate partnerships and applying for in-kind donations. We have applied for local foundations and individual giving programs.
Why is a ranch location beneficial for dealing with trauma?
A ranch setting can be incredibly beneficial in processing trauma due to its unique environment and therapeutic potential.
-
Nature's Healing Power: Being in a natural setting like a ranch offers a serene and calming environment. Nature has a proven therapeutic effect on mental health, reducing stress, anxiety, and depression. The open spaces, fresh air, and connection to the outdoors can promote relaxation and a sense of well-being, essential for trauma recovery.
-
Safety and security: Ranches often provide a sense of safety and security. The quiet, secluded setting can create a feeling of being away from the chaos of everyday life, allowing individuals to feel more comfortable and secure as they explore the root of their feelings.
-
Animal-Assisted Therapy: Interacting with animals, whether horses, dogs, or other creatures, can build trust, empathy, and emotional connections. This can be particularly beneficial for individuals who struggle with trust issues or have difficulty expressing emotions verbally.
-
Physical Activity and Mindfulness: Ranch activities often involve physical movement, such as caring for animals, gardening, or even simple tasks like walking in the open spaces. Engaging in physical activities can release endorphins and promote mindfulness, helping individuals stay present in the moment, which is crucial in trauma processing.
-
Community and Support: Working alongside others who are also on a journey of healing creates a supportive environment where individuals can share experiences, learn from one another, and feel a sense of belonging.
-
Metaphorical Learning: Tasks or challenges on the ranch can be used as metaphors for overcoming obstacles or working through emotional difficulties, providing valuable insights, and promoting personal growth.
What type of property is TriCord Ranch Foundation looking for?
We are looking for at least 40 acres, preferably 160 acres, of Oklahoma native land or mostly native land to serve as the headquarters and ranch location.
What does TriCord Ranch Foundation plan on doing with that type of property?
We plan to operate our residential facility and foundation headquarters on a working ranch model. With 160 acres we will be able to have a variety of livestock, horses, chickens, vegetable and herb gardens, fruit and nut orchard, hay fields, barn, corral, bunkhouses for men and women, 10-15 tiny homes, a mess hall with cafeteria-grade kitchen and meeting rooms, ranch store, modest Executive Director home, office spaces for partner providers, primitive campground, hiking trails, high and low ropes courses, activities field and chapel. At least three of the tiny homes will be ADA-approved as will all of the public buildings.
How will TriCord Ranch Foundation generate revenue once the ranch is established?
Our main priority will be to our clients, however, we have to remember that statistically, we have just as many potential clients still out in the community, afraid to ask for help to deal with their past trauma or whatever is causing dysfunction in their lives. Community outreach is an excellent way to introduce our programs to someone who might not have the courage to inquire for personal reasons, In addition to the grants and corporate partnerships we already have and will continue to foster, all donors to TriCord Ranch Foundation will be Ranch members, allowing them to utilize the ranch and participate in TRF programs and events at a discounted rate. The ranch store will sell ranch-produced items such as naturally-fed meat, fruits, vegetables, herbs, eggs, hay, TriCord Ranch Foundation merchandise, arts and crafts produced by program participants, etc. We will also have a small coffee counter where deli sandwiches and drinks will be available. We will work with local youth organizations to hold camps and retreats throughout the year. We can facilitate corporate retreats and community events throughout the year, depending on program participation.
